A FUN WAY TO SHOP: MY KEATON ROW EXPERIENCE

Have you ever felt when it's time to go somewhere and you look in your closet you never have nothing to wear? Or there is never enough time to achieve a great outfit? Well I know I'm not alone, some days, I don't know if I'm coming or going.  Between being a single mom and working full-time, my days run together, that I don't have time or effort to put into my personal style.  If I'm lucky, on a good day, my outfit is matching lol.

I figured with it being a new year, what better time for a make over. Revamping my style is one of my top goals to accomplish this year, but I had no clue where to begin.  My first thought was hitting the mall but shopping at the mall is an adventure in its self, especially when I have my daughter.  She typically gives me a good hour of trying on clothes then after that she is over it, then I'm over it.

After pondering how I was going to make my first step into a more fashionable me, I decided to enlist my fashion forward twin brother Brandon for help.  On Christmas he would always gift me with pretty nice pieces and he loves to shop, he has been in the retail industry since forever.  Plus he is finally putting his stylish skills to use as a personal stylist with Keaton Row, a online shopping site that helps assist in your shopping experience by pairing you with a stylist of your choice.  With my limited time, I've always been a fan of online shopping and having help was something worth giving a shot.

First thing, since I was going through Keaton Row, I had to establish a profile and describe my personal style.  My personal style, has been a mixture of comfort yet trendy and modern.  I like to stick to basic colors, nothing too flashy or gaudy.  I always like to stick to budget friendly clothes too.

My weekend gear is normally, skinny jeans & a tee, pretty simple.  I have a little more time to put energy into my look on the weekends.  My work attire on the other hand, however needs some work.  I work in a Corporate America environment, where business casual is the dress code.  For some reason, my work clothes has dwindled to little to nothing that I'm often recycling the same outfits.  I feel my work outfits are a bit outdated and my weekend looks borderline teen bopish.  Normally I try to jazz my outfits up with an accessory.  My go to piece is my leopard scarf my brother got me. I wear this scarf with almost all my outfits. As you can tell by work looks here.

After I explain my personal style and what  prices suits me.  I then expressed what kind of look I wanted to achieve.  Since I felt my clothes made me look young & out of style, I expressed that I wanted my look to be more sophisticated and age appropriate.  Once everything was set I was paired with a stylist.  Of course I chose Brandon.  I received confirmation via email that Brandon had gotten my info and would be creating a lookbook at no charge for me.  About a day or so I received an email that my lookbook was ready for viewing.

Hear are a few pieces Brandon picked:

I really liked this sweater as a layering piece, pair it with some jeans It can be worn on the weekends or with some nice pants during the work week.

This skirt is another piece I fell in love with because it's funky and the metallic color gives it edge.  It's also appropriate to wear in the office.

This skirt was my favorite pick of the entire lookbook. The color is everything & it's so pretty.  It looks a bit dressy but it can be dressed down with a graphic tee.  This also can be worn in the office or a date night.

I'm not a huge fan of jumpsuits because I can never find the right length but I really liked the cut in the back.  Also I could wear this to the office paired with a blazer or after work for some after 5 fun!

Lastly, this peach dress is a perfect spring dress.  This color goes great with my skin tone.

After reviewing my lookbook, I had an opportunity to buy the pieces I liked.  The items price ranged from $20 to $95.  Not too bad.  I'm looking into buyin the green skirt and the metallic skirt.

He also picked a few accessories:

Brandon pulled pieces that I wouldn't normally pick myself, which is what I liked. I felt he was pulling me out my comfort zone with his choice of colors and prints. My lookbook didn't consist of any shoes but that is also an option. With Valentine's Day approaching I'll be looking to Brandon to style me for some dates...lol

If your anything like me and you don't have the time or patience to rummage the mall, I definitely recommend giving this new way of shopping a try.  Shopping is always fun when you have someone to help and Keaton Row is like having that fun stylish friend.  It's very user friendly plus I already got the hook up on a stylist! Lol if you wanna see more of Brandon's personal style check him out at www.keatonrow/beyondellis & sign up! Brandon would be happy to put some looks together for you!

I'll keep you guys posted on how my make over is coming together. Thanks for reading & until next time!
