HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!: FOUR IMPORTANT THINGS MY THIRTIES TAUGHT ME SO FAR

Birthday Bran
Hey guys!!! Do you know what day it is!?! Go shawty it's your birthday! We gon party like it's your birthday!! It's Virgo Seassssoooonnnn!!! Yup it's my 35th Birthday!!! Yesss! The kid is excited! If you know me then you know that I take birthdays really seriously!  I am a Birthday freak!  I am just grateful for being here for another year!!! I am halfway through my thirties and I have been doing some heavy duty reflecting.  I always start analyzing my life once my birthday approaches.  I am here to share with you guys some of the things my 30's have taught me thus far.  I am learning some pretty valuable things to carry me to my 40's (wheeeeww chile...I ain't ready) btw these tips can be beneficial for any age.  So get comfy and check out this knowledge I am spitting...lol

1.) KEEP YOUR EYES ON YOUR OWN SH*T

First on my list is...staying in your own lane.  Playing the comparison game has gotten me caught up a few times.  I would watch what everyone around me was doing then apply it to my own life.  When I turned 30 everyone and they momma was getting married and working on baby number 2.  So I started thinking I need to work on getting married...mind you I did not have a boyfriend or a potential love interest...lol  I figured "Hey everyone else is making that next big step...why ain't I?" The comparison game will have you all the way messed up out here...smh.  My auntie tells me all the time to stop worrying about others and focus on myself...beside you don't know the full story behind someone else life.  So I am taking her advice and minding my own good black business.  Remembering God's will for me and what he has in store for me has been the driving force to keep me in sync with my own life.

2.) GET THEM FINANCES IN ORDER ASAP!!!

"I love money and she loves me back..." Secondly, and most importantly is getting and keeping those finances in order! Me and money have a roller coaster of a relationship.  In my earlier years, when I was a 20-something, I never appreciated or learned how to nurture the relationship.  So as I got older she been playing me to the left...lol  My reckless spending and no budget landing me in a dark hole that I have been clawing my way out of.  So I became proactive with getting my finances together...I started eliminating things that I did not need such as; monthly subscriptions, eating and going out.  I utilize all the free resources that are out like podcasts on financial planning, most importantly I am learning how to budget.  I am still researching and soaking up any knowledge that I can.  I have made some small victories that I am proud of but I have a ways to go.  Getting my finances together will definitely will help in the long run.

3.) I DON'T WANT NO GOFUNDME WHEN I DIE: GET LIFE INSURANCE

If you don't listen to any of these tips...this is FACTS and SUPER DUPER IMPORTANT!! This falls under the umbrella of "Getting them Finances in Order."  We all know that tomorrow isn't promise.  We have a start and end date.  I know that is morbid but it is REAL!  I see too many people using GoFundMe as a way to pay for funeral expenses...and this is not me throwing shade because I know everyone's circumstances and situations are different.  I refuse to leave my family with the burden of laying me to rest.  I know that I will not be here forever and I want to make sure Savannah is straight.  Meeting with a financial planner and getting insurance was the best adult thing I've done...lol.  If you are out her with no insurance don't worry I have a homegirl who can get you squared away.  Make sure to reach out to Danielle Williams at (312) 834-6561 and tell her I sent you!

4.) THERAPY IS CLUTCH

Life is funny...it can give you some dope ass moments and then it can come with the fuck shit, leaving you wanting to just throw in the towel.  My first experience with therapy started in college.  I went to see a career counselor because I was torn on if Communications should be my major or if I wanted to go into something more practical like Accounting.  After a I traumatic situation that happened to me caused me to turn to personal counseling.  I am a HUUUUGE advocate for going to therapy.  My best friend who is a counselor is also to thank for this one too!  Last year I was dealing with aloooot!  Things had became too much to bare and praying just was not helping.  It wasn't until one day I had had enough and I called my friend in tears.  She gave me contact information to a counselor and told me to make an appointment.  A year later, I go faithfully.  Therapy has allowed me a space to work through issues that I don't know how to handle alone.  It gives me a sense of release.  If you are in need and want to start your therapy journey, Dr. Joy, the creator of Therapy for Black Girls is a awesome resource.   TBG's tackles a wide range of topics regarding mental health.  She also has a directory of therapist in your specific area too!  If you like to listen to podcasts like me, she also has a podcast!  Make sure to check her out!

BONUS TIP: HEALTH IS WEALTH

Me at bootcamp
The biggest compliment I get from people is that I look like I am in my twenties...well late twenties...lol.  I have always been a athletic person.  However, it's something about turning 30 that makes the pounds just stick.  I am telling you guys I have been struggling to get rid of 10 measly pounds.  I know how I want to look at my goal weight.  This isn't all about losing weight but feeling good.  For the past few months I have been going to bootcamp and its really been an outlet for me.  Bootcamp tests my endurance, it keeps me energized and it keeps me motivated to keep going.  I want to continue to fooling folks when they ask "How old are you!?"  I just love the reaction!   So if you have fallen off the wagon and need some , go take a look at My #Journeyto10: Tips on How to get back Healthy

Okay guys, I hope you found these tips to be some what helpful.  As always I  want to hear from you guys If you are in the 30 and up club what is some life lessons that you have learned or what tips you would like to share!  Until next time!
